Creating photos for funeral display is one of the most time-sensitive tasks a family faces after a loss. Funeral Portraits specializes in exactly this — professionally enhanced canvas portraits, coordinated display accessories, and same-day shipping for orders placed before noon Eastern time. We have been serving families and funeral homes across North America since 2003.
Effective funeral display photos accomplish two things: they honor the person who has passed, and they create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that helps guests feel connected to the memory of that person. Achieving both requires attention to photo selection, size, presentation, and placement.
Photo selection: choose the clearest, most representative photo available — the one that, when family members see it, feels most like the person. The original background in the photo does not matter because our artists replace it entirely. Focus on the clarity of the face and the authenticity of the expression.
Size: larger spaces require larger prints. A 16" × 20" canvas is the standard choice for a typical funeral home visitation room; a 24" × 36" is appropriate for a large chapel, church hall, or outdoor service. See our full size breakdown in the section below.
Presentation: a professionally produced canvas portrait on an easel communicates care and intention. A simple 4×6 print in a plastic frame communicates haste. The difference is immediately visible to guests, and it affects how people experience the service.
Placement: position the main display photo near the entrance to the service space so every guest sees it upon arrival. A second, smaller display at the memorial table or near the casket creates additional tribute focal points for a larger service.
Every funeral display photo we produce begins with your source image and the work of our professional artists. After you upload the photo and choose a background theme during checkout, an artist reviews the image and applies digital enhancements: color correction, exposure balancing, background removal, retouching, and composition within the selected background. You receive a digital proof for your approval — typically within a few hours — before the portrait goes to print.
Printing uses archival pigment inks on professional-grade canvas, stretched over solid pine stretcher bars. The canvas gallery wrap requires no framing to look finished, but eight frame styles are available for families who prefer a traditional framed presentation. Frames ship pre-assembled — remove the portrait from the shipping box and it is ready to display.
Our background library includes more than 150 exclusive themes. Nature and florals, religious imagery spanning multiple traditions, patriotic and military themes, sports and hobby motifs, and elegant neutral designs are all available. Browse every option on our order page.
We offer canvas funeral display photos in five sizes:
Pricing for all sizes, including optional framing, is on our prices page. Multi-copy orders for additional family members are available at a discounted per-print rate.
A canvas portrait is the centrepiece of a funeral display, but a complete tribute station includes more. Our accessories include:
For families and funeral homes who want a complete solution, our display packages combine the canvas portrait with a coordinated set of display accessories. These packages are designed specifically for memorial service use and are available in configurations suited to different service sizes and settings.
Funeral homes that manage multiple services can also ask about our funeral home account program, which provides priority processing, consolidated billing, and a dedicated account contact. See our contact page for details.
Orders submitted before noon Eastern time ship the same business day. Overnight air delivery is the standard shipping method for funeral display orders. Most families receive their portrait by 10:30 AM the following morning, which means even services arranged with 24 to 36 hours of notice can be accommodated.
The digital proof approval process is the primary factor that determines how quickly the order moves to print. Approving the proof promptly — checking the enhancement, the background, and the overall composition, and requesting any needed adjustments right away — keeps the order on schedule. Our artists are available throughout the day to turn around revised proofs quickly.
For families whose services are planned further in advance, two-day air and ground shipping options are available at lower cost. Estimated delivery dates for all shipping methods are displayed at checkout before payment.
The funeral display photo is one of the few physical items from a service that families keep long-term. After the service concludes, the canvas portrait typically moves to the family home — a living room, hallway, or bedroom — where it becomes a daily reminder of the person honored. Archival canvas prints are designed for this kind of long-term use. They do not yellow or fade the way paper prints do, and they do not require glass for protection.
If additional copies of the same portrait are needed — for distribution among family members, for a memorial website, or for a secondary display location — contact us after your initial order is placed. We retain the enhanced file and can reproduce it in any size at a reduced rate for the same image.
